In PXL, contrary to Litracon, the optical fibre is replaced by a patented plastic unit. This modification, in addition to a more standardized means of production, ensures that PXL falls into a more accessible price range. The panels are reinforced and can be placed upright which makes their installation easier. The light-transmitting plastified points appear homogeneously on the surface of the PXL panel just like pixels on an LCD screen. It is thus easy to create coloured forms or logos through the « pixels » of the PXL panel. Thanks to the Litracon PXL technology, it is possible to create not only panels but also 3D objects – for example, folded or bent shapes, empty bodies… This revolution opens the door to many different design ideas among which are public statues or luminous urban furniture.
